We’ve witnessed continued growth in the pre-paid card category. Currently, VCT manufactures hundreds of millions of these cards each year, including the following:

Closed Loop Prepaid Cards -- Closed loop prepaid cards means the cards are only accepted at a specific merchant or group of merchants.

Semi-closed Loop Prepaid Cards -- Semi-closed loop prepaid cards run on open loop rails except that cardholders are permitted to redeem the cards at multiple select merchants only within a geographic area, such as a shopping center.

Open Loop Prepaid Cards -– Also called network branded prepaid cards.  Examples of these cards would be a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express prepaid card.  No credit is offered by the card issuer and the cardholder spends money which has been prepaid to a card.
