Our History: Keeping One Step Ahead
VCT is at the forefront of new trends and technologies. Combining our industry knowledge, experience, and expertise, we have a history of providing customers with cutting-edge solutions, often creating our own innovations that lead the market.
- 1986 -- VCT was established to service the direct marketing industry. Being a commodity market, this meant providing high quality card products delivered quickly and economically.
- Late 80’s and early 90’s -- As our customers' businesses expanded and changed, so did VCT. We improved our quality, capacity, delivery, and value, and introduced new and innovative products. When membership cards came on the scene, VCT was ready.
- 1989 -- VCT became VISA® and MasterCard® certified, meeting their stringent manufacturing requirements for bank and retail credit cards.
- 1990 thru mid-1990s – This period marked the birth of telephone, gift, and loyalty cards and supermarket key tags. VCT was an early manufacturer of each of these product lines, before many manufacturers recognized these products as potential growth markets.
- Mid-1990s through 2002 – VCT’s response to the rapid demand for telephone calling cards as well as the move from ATM cards to secure debit cards positioned VCT as a primary supplier in the US for plastic cards.
- 2000 -- The opening of VCT-India, a newly built, state-of-the-art secure card manufacturing facility in Chennai, India.
- 2003 – The acquisition of Qualteq, Inc., a card manufacturer in South Plainfield, NJ, doubled our card manufacturing capacity and allowed us to compete even more successfully in the large banking market.
- Mid-1990s to mid-2000s – The continued boom of the gift card industry as well as the growth in the credit card segment fueled ongoing growth at VCT.
- 2010 – VCT completed all smart card contact and contactless industry certifications. This, along with our continued investment in state-of-the-art equipment, has positioned VCT to serve our clients with cutting edge technology for years to come.
