Versatile Card Technology Promotes Suresh Kumar to
Vice President of SmartCard Operations
Downers Grove, IL, Versatile Card Technology, Inc. (VCT), the world’s leading manufacturer of plastic cards, today announced the promotion of Suresh Kumar to Vice President of SmartCard Operations.
Kumar has been with VCT since 1990 in various positions, including finishing manager, plant engineer, plant manager and process engineer. He was the project manager for setting up VCT’s plastic card manufacturing plant in Chennai, India, where he was responsible for site selection, land purchase, construction, equipment purchase and hiring.
Kumar has worked mostly with SmartCard operations since becoming the process engineer in 1999. “Suresh brings a strong background in the SmartCard area to his new position. He has great knowledge of the plastic card industry, which includes thorough knowledge of the entire manufacturing process, including quality. He also understands the needs and expectations of our customers,” said Nicholas J. Cooney, President of VCT.
In his new capacity, Kumar is responsible for SmartCard production at VCT’s plants in Downers Grove, Illinois, and Chennai, India. Kumar will oversee new card designs as well as the launch of new card products. “VCT’s SmartCard operations are fully focused on Contact and Contactless EMV production” said Kumar. VCT recently tripled its SmartCard production capacity, expanding to three million cards a month -- the world’s largest.
