HARDWARE SETUP
First install the USB Cybermouse smartcard reader/writer.

For Windows 98SE and ME  (NOT WIN 2000/WINXP)
Reader Setup 1: Install Microsoft Smart Card Base Components (win98/winME only, NOT WIN2000/WINXP which includes this.)

Reader Setup 2: Install PC/SC driver for the USB Cybermouse (ACR30U)

For Windows 2000/WINXP
Reader Setup1: Install the PC/SC driver for the USB Cybermouse (ACR30U).

  • Windows 2000/WINXP includes Microsoft Smart Card Base Components - you don't need to install them.

SOFTWARE SETUP
Now install the BasicCardPro 4.30.1.1 Development Kit
(Software and Manual)

BasicCardPro Setup 1: Install the BasicCardPro Development Kit (software + manual)

BasicCardPro Setup 2: Test connection to USB Cybermouse smartcard reader writer and set com port.

After installation, run the program "Search Card Reader" (Start->Programs->BasicCard Pro->Search Card Reader).  This utility program will search the machine for smartcard readers. It will display all readers and their assigned comports in RED.  Find the reader defined as "ZeitControl CyberMouse USB 0" and note its assigned comport (Example: ComPort = 101).

Windows98
Add the following to the autoexec.bat file: "set zcport=101"  (Where 101 is the comport indicated by the results of the Search Card Reader utility.)
Windows 2000/WINXP
  • Start -> Setting ->Control Panel ->System ->Advanced-> Environment Variables -> New
  • Variable Name: zcport
  • Variable  Value: 101  (Where 101 is the comport indicated by the results of the Search Card Reader utility.)
